CV

Nicole Harth studied psychology and sociology at the University of Mannheim from 1997 to 2003. From 2000 she worked as a psychologist in children and adolescent psychotherapy. After a short stay at the “Schauspiel” Leipzig (dramaturgy and theatre pedagogy), she began her doctorate in 2004 within the DFG-funded International Graduate Program "Conflict and Cooperation between Social Groups" and spent a research period at the University of Sussex in the UK (2006) as part of the program. After successfully completing her doctorate (summa cum laude, 2007), Nicole Harth worked as a research assistant at the Jena Graduate Academy and later as a post-doctoral researcher at the Chair of Social Psychology at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. Nicole Harth has been teaching and researching at the University of Applied Sciences Jena since October 2014. She is currently the Dean of Studies of the department.

She is fundamentally interested in finding out how 'good' relationships between people are possible. Specifically, she researches conflict and reconciliation between individuals and groups, prejudice and social discrimination, psychological aspects of social inequality, as well as strengthening social and emotional competencies in childhood. Her research is based on experimental and correlational paradigms as well as field research.
