Martin Geisler is a graduate of the Walter Gropius School of Art and Design and studied social education at the University of Applied Sciences in Erfurt. He worked as a freelance media educator and photojournalist and is also active as an art photographer, in acting, poetry and as a (clan) player. He was vice-chairman of the theatre ImproVision e.V. from 2005 to 2014. After completing his doctorate at the University of Erfurt (2008), entitled ” Myth of Clans – Dimensions and Structures of Computer Game Communities “, he worked as a lecturer and instructor for media education and eLearning at the University of Applied Sciences in Erfurt. Since 2007, he has headed the media education institute for computer games – Spawnpoint and since 2014 he has been the state spokesperson for the Society for Media Education and Communication Culture – Thuringia. Since October 2011, he has been a professor of culture and media at the EAH Jena in the Department of Social Work. Martin Geisler designed and directs the part-time degree program “Game and Media Education” which started on 01.04.2017.
