Relevant positions held Since 2019
I am a full professor of Social Sciences (W2, tenured) at the Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena – University of Applied Sciences (EAH). My teaching focuses on Criminology and Psychology for Social Work majors. I furthermore serve as a student advisor (untill 2023) and as the head of teaching evaluation in the Social Work program. In 2021 I was awarded the Research Award of the Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena – University of Applied Sciences. This award is awarded to one professor per year. In addition, In addition, I am currently leading the collaborative projects "ProKindLang" (funded by BMBF) and SoLawi-Gun (funded by BMBF) and I am part of the research consortium of the research network "RaDiGe" (funded by BMBF).
As a post-doc I spent several years (2015 –2019) at the Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony (KFN) There I worked as a Principal Investigator supervising a team of more than 20 research assistants and student interns. We carried out a longitudinal evaluation of an intervention for disadvantaged first-time mothers exposed to unsafe home environments. Based on this work we were able to obtain follow-up funding from the BMBF to continue the research. The current wave will be the 16-year follow-up This study is conducted as a multidisciplinary research cooperation where I collaborate with Health Science researchers from the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology (BIPS) as well as economists from the German Institute for Employment Research (IAB).
At the KFN I was the head of the division for unreported crime. In this role I collaborated on several large surveys to which I contributed my methodological skills as well as my expertise in assessment. I also led several other projects, such as the quantitative study "Updating the regional analyses of right-wing extremism in Schleswig-Holstein" (funded by the Ministry of the Interior in Schleswig-Holstein and the evaluation study "Klasse-2000: Evaluation of the German-wide teaching concept for health promotion, addiction prevention and violence prevention" (funded by the BZgA I was also the appointed data protection coordinator (completed further training as a data protection coordinator DSGVO through Althammer & Kill GmbH & Co. KG) and a member of the works council.
From 2016 to 2018 I additionally served as an interim professor (W2) at the Department of Psychological Diagnostics and Psychotherapy of the University of Brunswick Germany. In this role I taught Psychological Assessment, Psychometrics and Health Psychology classes for Psychology majors. I furthermore collaborated on a project on PTSD with the University of Zurich (UZH)
Key qualifications
I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Brunswick Germany (2015). My thesis “Posttraumatic Stress, and related Disorders: Classification, Latent Structure and Psychotherapy”, which I wrote under the supervision of Dr. Kurt Hahlweg, received the highest honors (summa cum laude). My Ph.D. research was funded by a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).
I graduated with a diploma in Psychology (Diplom, equivalent to MSc., 2010) with the best possible grade (1,0) from the University of Brunswick (Thesis title: Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder: A Meta-Analysis Using Mixed-Effects Modeling). I was also awarded with the poster prize of the SIG "Clinical Research Methods Statistics" at the 46th Annual Convention of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), National Harbor, USA (Title: Predicting long-term risk for divorce using non-parametric conditional survival trees) as well as various other scholarships and awards (e.g., scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes), from the central scholarship awarding body of the University of Braunschweig (several times), from the Association of German Psychologists (BDP), from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK), and from the Kölner Gymnasial- und Stiftungsfonds).
